More commonly known as the Tube to everyday commuters, the London Underground is a rapid transit system serving the Greater London and some surrounding areas. Its routes serve 270 stations on 11 lines, with over 250 miles of track. The network incorporates part of the world’s first underground railway – The Metropolitan Railway. Integrated under public ownership in 1933, the Tube now serves 3.66 million passengers daily.  A multi-billion ongoing improvement plan is now underway to bring the network up to modern standards and prepare for further growth in London’s population.

Dublin Airport Terminal 1

Dublin Airport’s Terminal 1 was built in 1972 as an addition to the original 1940 building, which still forms the centrepiece of the airport today. Following the opening of Terminal 2 in 2010, Terminal 1 is now used exclusively by Ryanair. M Station

Built by DEWA (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority), at a cost of more than Dh10 billion it can produce over 2 mega watts of electricity and 140 million imperial gallons of desalinated water per day - around 20 per cent of Dubai’s current requirements.

Tyne Tunnels

Tyne & Wear, UK

The first Tyne Tunnel was completed in 1967 and the second in 2011, after which the 1967 tunnel was comprehensively refurbished to include a new evacuation tunnel and the latest safety standards. Today, the twin tunnels provide a vital transport link, carrying the A19 trunk road under the Tyne River in North East England.  Around 36,000 vehicles use the twin tunnels every day, a figure which is expected to rise to 43,000 by 2021.

King's Cross Station

Phase 1 included construction of a new Western Ticket Hall located in front of St. Pancras station and the expansion of the current Tube Ticket Hall. Waterloo Station

One of the busiest passenger terminals in Europe and the UK’s biggest terminus, Waterloo Station is a central London mainline and underground station in the London Borough of Lambeth. Located near the South Bank of the River Thames, the current station was built between 1901 and 1922 with  19 platforms serving the surrounding areas of London, Surrey, Berkshire, Hampshire and South West England.  It is also served by the Bakerloo, Northern, Jubilee and Waterloo and City London Underground lines and, until 2007, was home to continental Eurostar services.
